If- as Instantloveland did a couple of weeks ago- you find yourself cooling your heels in Copenhagen, a forty-minute train ride will take you out to the Louisiana Museum by the sea at Humlebaek, where you’ll encounter ‘Farve Form Stof’, a selection of works from the museum’s permanent collection. Turns out the show’s title translates as ‘Colour Form Substance’: but going on its contents, Instantloveland’s guess would have been ‘There’s a burst water pipe down in the stockroom, we need to get everything out of there, FAST’

Still, if you can get past the arbitrariness of the curatorial concept, the debatable quality of much of the work on show (Klein, Ryman, Kelly, Flavin), and the sheer haphazardness of the hang, there are a few mildly pleasant surprises: a stripey Stella, a big poured Polke, and a splashy Louis, none of which should work at all as abstract paintings, but somehow sort of do, nevertheless…

The show runs until October 21st 2018.
